We cater for couples, singles, friends and families. Groups are small with between 8-10 participants along with a designated guide. The evenings can be spent relaxing in your accommodation or in the local towns and villages to soak up the atmosphere that’s on offer
Mountains, Lakes And Seas Of Connemara And Mayo
Breathtaking walking in the Connemara and Mayo Mountains. You will see ruins of old houses from a bygone age, sheep grazing high in the cliffs and beautiful lakes and rivers. You will visit old villages and pubs meet local story tellers and enjoy superb food and fun along the way.
8 days / 7 nights – From €800
Your tour begins with pick up from Westport train Station at 16:15. Then a short tour of Westport town with its picturesque river flowing through it and quaint shop fronts and old pubs. You will then be transferred to your accommodation about fifteen minutes away. You will be lodging in a luxurious log cabin in the heart of the mountains for the duration of the tour where the peace and tranquillity is palatable. Here you can relax after pleasant days walk and read or watch TV or check your emails.
Day 2: Devil’s Mother Mountain to Leenane
Walking time 4 hours + 682m.
This is the second highest mountains in the Party/ Joyce country area. As we ascend we can see the Erriff River and Maumtrasna Mountains with Ben Gorm, Mweelrea and the twelve bens in the distance. The views of Nephin and Croagh Patrick Mountains are awe-aspiring. There is a nice long flat walk along to the summit after a tough climb. From here we get a view of the Killary fjord as it heads out to the Atlantic. (The only genuine fjord in Ireland) Below us is a horseshoe village and further on the village of Leenane. We descend to a cosy pub at the base of the mountain for refreshments. Dinner tonight in Westport.
Day 3: Mweelrea Mountain.
Walking time 5 hours + 814m
We travel a small distance this morning through the Delphi valley to arrive at our starting point. Mweelrea is the highest mountain in Mayo and all of Connaught. Spectacular views develop as we ascend with Doolough Lake to the west and Finlough Lake and Bundorragha River to the south. The sights from the summit are out over the Atlantic Ocean with beaches down below, Achill and Croagh Patrick to the North and the twelve bens to the South. Dinner tonight in Leenane.
Today is your free day to do as you please. You will be transferred to Westport for shopping or if you wish hire a bike from Eaglewood lodge and take to the back roads. Alternative trips can be arranged in advance. We are close to adventure centres, golf courses and horse riding. Dinner tonight is of your own choice. We will arrange to meet at one of the traditional pubs in the evening before transfer back to the lodge.
Day 5: Sheeffry Mountain Doolough Pass.
Walking time 5 hours + 772m
Today’s tour starts in the Sheeffry Mountains overlooking Tawnyard Lake. We make our way up the ridge to a fairly flat plateau on top and from here we get to see Croagh Patrick to the North West, Maumtrasna to the south and Mweelrea to the west. This has been described as a scene from the “lord of the rings "(filmed in New Zealand). We continue on with Ben Creggan to the South before we reach the peak above Doolough while Delphi valley spreads out below.
Day 6: Ben Creggan Ben Gorm horseshoe
Walking time about 5 hours + 693m
You tour today starts at Doolough Lake and takes you to the first peak which is Ben Creggan. Here you can see the Sheeffry’s, Doolough and Finlough Lakes. You continue on to Ben Gorm where the vast expanse of the Connemara and Mayo mountains, lakes and sea all combine to make this one of the most beautiful places on earth. Below us is Delphi valley named after an area in Greece that resembles it. Here you see Mweelrea, Maumturks, Maumtrasna and the twelve bens with the Killary fjord and the Atlantic Ocean. You could spend the day here in these majestic hills. We drop down via Ashleigh falls at the foot of the Erriff Salmon River and maybe catch a glimpse of salmon leaping before we head to a local pub for a well deserved drink and chat.
Day 7: Croagh Patrick
Walking time 3 hours + 442m
After a short trip to the base of Croagh Patrick you make your ascent along the path. The Islands of Clew Bay and the Atlantic Ocean unfold before you and on a sunny day it is said you can see the 365 little Islands dotted in the ocean. Clare Island is off to your right and Achill Island can be seen in the distance. As you reach the summit a panoramic view of the mountains of Mayo and Connemara are all around. Monolithic tombs, burial grounds, ring forts, cooking sites are to be found here. Alternatively if you just want to do a bus tour today instead then let us know and we can arrange it for you.
Your mountain lake and sea tour concludes with a transfer to Westport for your onward journey.

Eaglewood lodge will be your base for the whole of the tour. Ideally located in the Partry mountains this beautiful log cabin is all you need after a day cycling. With a large river rock fireplace it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the views.
